Mode of Preparation :Leaves boiled with water for extract. Leaves crushed with turmeric for paste application. Seeds crushed for powder. Dried leaves used for fumigation.
Mode of use :Fumigation, Decoction and Local Application
Ingredients :Leaves and flowering twigs constitute the drug stramonium. Hyoscyamine is the major alkaloid and are narcotic, nydriatic and anodyne. Some quantity of alkaloids are reported in dried seeds and fruits.
Ailment Treated:Leaf decoction is used for local application on fore-head in dizziness. Boiled leaves used as bandage in muscular sprain. Seed powder is taken to cure dysentery. Fumes of dried/ semi-dried leaves useful in severe asthma. Leaf paste along with turmeric is applied in chest-pain.
Source:Grown wildly in the valley areas. Not so common.
