Mode of Preparation :Leaves crushed & squeezed for extract. Shoot is simmered for decoction. Leaves crushed & soaked for infusion. Unripe berry is crushed for paste. Good fodder for cattle; fruits eaten by children.

Ingredients :Leaf is rich source of riboflavin, nicotinic acid and vitamin C, b-carotene and citric acid are also reported. Fruits contain glucose and fructose, vitamin C and b-carotene. Immature green fruit contains 4-steroidal glyco- alkaloids like solamargine and a and b-solanigrine. Seeds contain a fatty oil.
Ailment Treated:Leaf extract is prescribed in severe stomach ache. Shoot decoction is a remedy for skin diseases. Juice of fresh leaves produces dialatation of the pupils and used in cirrhosis of liver. Unripe fruit paste is used for ringworm. The seeds are useful in inflammations and skin diseases.
Source:Extensively grown in wild habitat in valley areas prominently in vegetable gardens.
