Mode of Preparation :Leaves crushed for decoction. Fruits can be taken raw. Fruits boiled with rice water for hair lotion. Fruits edible (raw as well as pickles)

Ingredients :Fruits, bark and leaves are rich in tanin 28%, 8-21% and 22%, respectively. Fruit analysis shows :Water-81.2%, Protein-0.5%, Fat-0.1%, Carbohydrates-14.1%, Fibrous elements-3.4%, Calcium-0.05%, Phosphorus-0.02%, Iron-1.02% and Vitamine C-600 mg.
Ailment Treated:Leaf decoction is useful in controlling high blood pressure. Fruits are used in constipation, bleeding gums, piles and also used as brain and nerve tonic in blood diseases. Fruit is astringent, diuretic and laxative. Fruits are given in diarrhoea, dysentery, haemorrhage, anaemia and jaundice. Fermented fruits are prescribed in cough; fruit juice is used in eye diseases. Fruit and rice water decoction is used as hair lotion.
