Mode of Preparation :Fresh matured leaves crushed for decoction. Young tender inflorescence is used for fresh consumption. Leaves dried and crushed into powder. Fresh leaf crushed with water for juice.

Ingredients :All parts contain Vasicine (Peganine). Seeds contain Linoleic and Oleic acids. Leaves contain an essential oil, alkaloids vasicine, N-oxides of vasicine, vasicinone, deoxyvasicine and maiontone. Roots contain vasicinolone, vasicol and peganine. Flower contain beta-sitosterol, D-glucoside, kaemferol, its glycosides and quercetin.
Ailment Treated:Leaf decoction is good for stomach ulcer, intestinal disorder and muscular sprain. Fresh inflorescence is antidote to pox. Dried leaf powder is good for local application on skin infection. Fresh leaf juice is used in tuberculosis, pyorrhea and in bleeding gums.
