Mode of Preparation :Fresh leaves crushed for paste. Leaves soaked with water for infusion. The young leaves and shoots are used as vegetable, specially for currey soaps by the tribals. Leaves boiled for extract. Decoction of the leaves are used for preparation of hair lotion (chenghi).

Ingredients :The plant contains a crystalline pentacyclic alcohol, fernenol, stigmasterol, b-sitosterol, a-amyrin and its acetate.
Ailment Treated:Leaves and inflorescences are generally kept inside clothes, books, etc. for repelling insects. Leaf paste is used in stomach ulcer. Leaves and flowering tops used in asthma , astringent, acrid, thermogenic, aromatic, anodyne, anti-inflammatory, depurative, diuretic, emmengogue, aphrodisiac, appetizer, digestive, stomachic, anthelmintic, febrifuge, alexeteric and haematinic. Infusion of leaf is used in asthma, nervous and spasmodic affections. Roots are used as a tonic and antiseptic. The leaves are also used in perfumes by the local people. The oil from the leaves and flower is used as insect repellant and insecticide.
