Mode of Preparation :Tender leaves for fresh consumption. Tender leaves crushed with milk for juice. Ripe fruit crushed for extract. Tender leaves crushed with honey for juice. Plants is associated with religious purpose.

Ingredients :Fruit contains marmelosin, young bark contains coumarin and umbelliferone, old bark has umbelliferone and coumarin. Leaves are having essential oil, consisting of a & b phellandrene. Matured bark contains fragrine, umbelliferone, marmesin, sterols and triterpenoids. Leaves contain 0.6% essential oil and d-lemonene.
Ailment Treated:The ripe fruits are astringent, aromatic, cooling, laxative, digestive, stomachic and are good for heart and brain. The tender leaves with milk is used in diabetes, dyspepsia, hepatitis, fever and bronchitis.The juice of the leaves mixed with honey is given in jaundice. Seed gum is given in colitis. Pulp of roasted green fruit is given in chronic stomach disorders. Ripe fruit pulp extract in water is taken in empty stomach in the early morning to cure stomach ulcer, dyspepsia and dysentery. Root bark is used in intermittent fevers. Unripe fruits are bitter, acrid and used for digestion and diarrhoea.
