Mode of Preparation :Fresh petiole crushed with water for juice. Tender petioles are edible. Corms are edible and crushed for paste.

Ingredients :Corms contain betulinic acid, b-sitosterol, stigmasterol, triacontane and b-sitosterol palmitate. Corms are irritant due to the composition of the corms is as arginine, histidine, leucine, lysine, methionine and valine.
Ailment Treated:The juice of the fresh petiole is given in insect-bite and tumours. Dried petiole is used for bleeding piles. Corms are astringent, irritant, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, carminative, appetizer, stomachic and liver tonic.
