Mode of Preparation :Fresh leaves crushed with water for extract. Leaves crushed with water for decoction. Leaf/shoot occasionally used in the preparation of traditional hair lotion.

Ingredients :The petrolium ether extract of aerial parts contains a terthienyl aldehyde, ecliptal besides stignasterol and b-sistosterol. The roots are very rich in thiophene acetylenes.
Ailment Treated:Leaf extract along with little honey is given against cough and fever. Leaf paste is applied against tooth-ache. Decoction of the plant is given in liver enlargement. The plant is bitter, acrid, thermogenic, alternative, anti-inflammatory, anthelmintic, anodyne, ophthalmic, digestive, carminative, diuretic, deobstruent, depurative and febrifuge. It is good for blackening and strengthening of the hair, for stopping haemorrhages and fluxes, and for strengthening the gums. The seeds are good for increasing sexual vigour.
