Mode of Preparation :Root bark crushed with water for extract. Stem crushed with 50% alcohol for extract. Fruits are edible.

Ingredients :Fruit contains marmelosin, young bark contains coumarin and umbelliferone, old bark has umbelliferone and coumarin. Leaves are having essential oil, consisting of a- & b-phellandrene. Matured bark contains fragrine, umbelliferone, marmesin, sterols and triterpenoids. Leaves contain 0.6% essential oil and d-lemonene.
Ailment Treated:Bark extract is given in liver complaints. Extract of root bark is used in leucorrhoea. Bark is astringent, digestive, anthelmintic, refrigerent, ophthalmic and used in urinary problem. It is used in tumour, dyspepsia, intestinal worms, skin diseases, leprosy, diabetes, jaundice, haemorrhoids, burning sensation, arthritis & leucorrhoea. The seeds are laxative anodyne, anthelmintic. Seed oil is used in rheumatism. 50% ethanolic extract of stem is used in anticancer activity.
Source:Grown wildly in both hills and valley areas. Occasionally cultivated.
