Ingredients :Leaf and stem contain the alkaloid crythrinaline. Seeds yield the alkaloid hypaphorine and a saponin.
Ailment Treated:Decoction of bark is used in skin diseases and rheumatism. Leaves are used as sedative, in insomnia and anxiety. Crushed fresh leaves are used externally as poultice in haemorroids. Powdered leaves are used in wounds and ulcers.
