Mode of Preparation :Flowers simmered with water for decoction. Leaves crushed for paste preparation. Occasionally used as a fodder.

Ingredients :Dried capitula contain spilanthol which shows strong sialagogic action, acts as a local anaesthesia, and a powerful insecticide. Flowers contain a sterol and non-reducing polysaccharide.
Ailment Treated:Flower decoction is taken in jaundice. Leaf paste is useful for local application on cuts and injuries. Fresh flower is good for sore throat. Seeds are good for salivation when the mouth is dry. Root is purgative. Leaves are chewed to relieve toothache and affection of throat and gums.
Source:Gregarious in both hills & valley areas particularly in moist places.
