Mode of Preparation :Leaf is crushed for paste. Leaf is roasted for local application. Leaf is boiled with water for extract. Leaf is crushed with honey for fresh consumption.

Ingredients :Leaves are rich in protein, calcium and phosphorus. Stem powder contains starch grains, fibers, crystal fibers containing prisms of calcium oxalate. Presence of many alkaloids are also reported.
Ailment Treated:Leaf extract is useful in gout and diarrhoea. Leaf paste along with honey is given in cough. Roasted leaf is good in muscular sprain (local application). Aqueous and alcoholic extract of dry stem causes reduction in fasting blood sugar and glucose tolerance is increased.
Source:Grown in both hills and valley areas. Cultivated in home gardens. Rare due to extensive collection.
